What I Did With Empty Forum Categories

This is not exactly a question, but what I did, and an invitation for others to check it out and perhaps do the same.

There are five categories under my Root Node. The first four are just basically welcome messages and have no child nodes. The fifth takes the place of Main Category and has all the forums underneath it as child nodes.

To see it, access www.alemontree.eu . If it asks for a password up front, just click on the w. (There is no password.)

If you like it then that's fair enough. Personally I don't and I would put all of that into a notice instead.

Thanks, Paul. I was able to create a notice for my first forum (child of the 5th category which is a child of root) but I really wanted the notice to appear on the initial page -- does that mean I have to set the Page Criteria to (root)? There doesn't seem to be an option for that.

If by initial page you mean the forum index, you set the Page Criteria like so:
upload_2015-10-18_12-48-21.webp

Yay! That did it.

I just noticed the Frequently Asked Questions link in your sig. I'm going to check it out.

Thank you both.
