This may help someone...
I have a VB4 licence, but the bbpress importer in impex is too old.
I first converted to SMF with the attached sql script. (I added the ID > 1 becuase SMF comes installed with user id 1. It didn't matter as both systems the ID for admin was 1). The script came from http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=511772.msg3614118#msg3614118
Then I converted to phpBB using the SMF Importer.
Then XenForo imported phpBB.
So bbpress ->SMF -> phpBB -> XenForo
Whew!
Needed lots of tweaking in the end. but users topics and post came across. Which was all I needed.
Loving XenForo so far
