What happens during twitter/google/facebook registration?

I'm considering enabling twitter/google/facebook for my sites, however I've not used this before and can't find out how the users are created with these registration methods. Will a user that signs up like this still have an e-mail address and password associated with their account? For example, if someone signed up and then closed the associated account, would they still be able to log in to the forums via the user/pass method?

Also, has anyone got any stats on how registrations changed since enabling the additional methods?

They would need to do a password reset but other than that, their account on the forum would still be viable.
