What do you use the connect via FB/Twitter/G+/etc. options for?

Honestly, I just don't get this. I'm not a big social user myself, and that's probably where the disconnect is, but why would you want all your forum info showing up on FB/Twitter/G+ etc.? Or logging in from there? Or having people know about your trophies? "Oooh, Bob got awarded the 'Male' trophy today!"

What am I missing here?
 
Logging in via Facebook is a common implementation across many sites.

As is social networking and sharing.
 
again, this might just be my disconnect, but why would you even want to login from FB? why not just go to the site? isn't that the goal anyway???
