What do you do to celebrate Christmas on your forum?

Can you believe it is Christmas 2024 nearly? This year has flown!

With Christmas comes the opportunity to decorate your forums or even offer festive contests and discussions.

When Christmas comes around, what do you do to celebrate on your forum?

We have a changeable "banner" that gets switched to a Christmas theme. And seasonal threads pop up. I usually have start one for music. And it's a religion site with a mostly Christian membership so threads on the "Christmas story" or about things like Christmas church services inevitably come up.

We have an advent calendar each year from 1st December with openable windows that show a photo of members pets with a christmas background. It's popular for the first 10 days, then people ignore a bit as lives get busy, then popular again just before Christmas. I like the advent calendar software. They do a discount for non profits.

Additionally I change the block/node headings to a christmassy photo, and attempt to add something to the header - not always successfully! Due to the way the logo is.

I've experimented with a background image before, but given up on that because it doesn't really work unless I can make the nodes/forum opaque and can't seem to manage that - any tips would be appreciated!

The monthly photo competition has a Christmas theme usually and that winning photo goes on the home page.

I might do a mass alert and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

I'm pretty lame. LOL

Next year, I want to try to do something on my forums every holiday (well, every major holiday).

Some kind of theme edit (like a holiday logo modification) and a few forum events.
