Anyone notice how they're in the middle of beta phase of 1.3.0 and they released 1.2.5?

Painless, painless, painless. Painless update. :D

Yup. I am impressed. The only 'pain' I had in updating to 1.2.5 was the update overwriting my custom logo. After noticing that, all I had to do was copy my backup custom logo over the update logo.

Good stuff.

Our owner just updated us from 1.2.4 to 1.2.5, and, aside from taking several hours, there were no issues.

One thing comes up in a file health check, but it's from @Waindigo's Social Groups add-on. Updating the add-on will most likely fix it. :)

Edit: Yup. Now that I've updated the add-on, the health check is perfect. :)

Several hours for a third point upgrade?

It was slow good?

[2/14/2014 12:47:14 PM] Sean: you mean update the site?
[2/14/2014 12:47:25 PM] Amaury: Yes, just as soon as the backup is done.
[2/14/2014 12:47:34 PM] Sean: k sure.
[2/14/2014 12:51:50 PM] Amaury: Backup is done.
[2/14/2014 1:03:07 PM] Sean: hey amaury before I upgrade us I need to know if you did all the necessary steps explained in this thread.

[2/14/2014 4:28:17 PM] Amaury: This long downtime is worth it. I'm really liking XenForo more than vBulletin now.

Why is he manually overwriting every file in every directory?

Just set the FTP application to merge, drag and drop the whole lot.
Or better still, upload the zip, extract and overwrite.

It took me longer to make a cup of tea than it did to upgrade to 1.3.

3 hours?! Wow.

The 1.2.5 update took all of 5 min for me. The 1.3 update took 15 min but that's because I also had to merge a few templates and adjust some settings. I'm really confused at why it took him 3 hours.

I'm not sure why, but, @Sean Bagby, have a look at this so the next time you update us, you don't torture yourself. Or leave @Nights in charge of updating us. :P

Ahahahaha!

Probably took me about 30 minutes for my first upgrade with xF. Wanted to make site I was following instructions properly.

I expect future updates will go faster.

The instructions are spot on.

@Amaury I'm assuming they don't have SSH access? Super quick with that ;)

Just upload the zip, and run the command to recursively unzip to the XenForo install directory (takes less than a minute), then run the CLI upgrader, takes around 2 minutes.

So, less than 3 minutes in total :P

I'm guessing Amaury used the "full" download to upgrade... I dunno if that takes longer.. o_O

Otherwise this is the method I use:
Just set the FTP application to merge, drag and drop the whole lot.
Or better still, upload the zip, extract and overwrite.
...Of course, with the upgrade folder.

There isn't really any extra files in the full download, just the data and internal_data folders are omitted in the upgrade version - all the files are the same...

Liam

I didn't update the forum, our owner did. :)
Was lookin' at the chat, and assumed it was you. My bad! :D

And here, I was thinking the upgrade folder only includes just the updated files, and the full folder includes the whole shebang.
