XF 2.0 Website traffic was low nearly 50%

Hi we moved to XF from VB4 before a month..

we can see nearly 50% drop in traffic averagely.. what will be the issue how can we solve it?

Also usually in vb our guests will be greater than members atleast 4 times, we usually check in members online. but here guests are very very low comparing to members.

Any help will be appreciated.

How are you measuring traffic?

We saw similar when we moved years ago. I think part of this was because VB has lots of redirect pages (e.g. after posting a post a new page would load to say your message had been posted and then redirect you).

We saw no real loss in users nor advertising revenue.

yes we used vbulletin redirections and few pages we tested in Search engines too it was redirecting.

we checked with google analytics and regarding guests we checked in members online feature.

and we can see drops in revenue too.

Next thing to check then (and it has happened to me!) is whether you put in a robots.txt or noindex in a template temporarily while testing and then forgot it was there.

Hi,

The drop in guest are stable no improvements... usually our guest are 4 times greater than registered members.
for eg. if we have 40 members then guests will be around 300-500 ranges.

but i can see now around 5 guests only. It didn't exceeds single digit.

can anyone help me to solve this issue.

What length do you have set to count a user as active? 15 mins? 30 mins?

What did you used to have it?

Also, if you're talking about guests, a lot of those could just be bots that are now being blocked.

We have set "Online status timeout" as 30 minutes. Previously in VB also it was same.

If we think lot of a bots this is very huge...
