Video Tutorials, on the Features of XenForo, and how to use them effectively.

As a business owner, time is my most precious resource. Learning a new software or system shouldn't take hours of reading through lengthy manuals or hunting down FAQs. Here’s why video tutorials would be a game changer 👇

1. Time is Limited
Running a business means I’m juggling a thousand things at once. I can’t afford to dedicate hours to learning software. Video tutorials are a quick way to show exactly what I need to know—without the fluff.

2. Visual Learning is Key
Not everyone learns the same way. For me, seeing exactly how a feature works through a video is so much more effective than reading text. It's the difference between guessing and knowing.

3. Step-by-Step Guidance
I need to understand how a tool functions quickly and effectively. Video tutorials break down complex features into manageable, visual steps, so I can implement them without making costly mistakes.

4. Increased Adoption & Engagement
As a business owner, the quicker I can integrate your system into my workflow, the better. Video tutorials make the process easier, which means I’m more likely to adopt and fully use your tool.

5. Learn at My Own Pace
With video tutorials, I can pause, rewind, and fast forward as needed. I don’t have to follow a rigid, linear guide or schedule training sessions. I learn on my time.

6. Immediate Access to Updates
When new features or updates are rolled out, video tutorials help me get up to speed immediately. A quick visual guide can save me hours of confusion and trial-and-error.

7. Support for Busy Entrepreneurs
As a business owner, I'm often working under tight deadlines. Video tutorials let me solve problems on my own without needing to reach out for support—empowering me to be more self-sufficient.

8. Maximize the Value of Your Software
I want to use your system to its full potential, but that’s hard to do without clear instructions. Video tutorials ensure I’m not just scratching the surface but using all the features that could improve my business.

Shoutout to the Amazing XenForo Community
I’ve had so many questions, and every time, the community has been incredibly helpful. Whether it’s answering a technical question or offering a workaround, the support has been outstanding. But even with that, having video tutorials would take it to the next level!

💡 In short: Video tutorials aren’t just a nice-to-have—they’re essential for busy entrepreneurs like me. They save time, reduce confusion, and maximize productivity.

I’d love to see these incorporated into your support offerings. It would make a world of difference for users like me who need to move fast. Thanks again to the community for all the help! 🙏

It's set up, and I have some experience with old-school VB. But, for instance, resource prefixes, resource fields, and resource review fields, and all the options under each—I've looked at the manual, but couldn't find anything on it (though I could have overlooked it).

Regarding connected accounts, I spent over an hour with Apple Support today trying to get it connected. They have no idea why it's not working, and said it looks like I have it set up correctly on their end. They suggested I reach out for help here. However, she did refer me to another team for support, so fingers crossed.

The rest of the information is just really overwhelming and mostly outdated. Now, with that said, I also understand how the developers could see it as: It's up to me to figure all that out on my own, as they offer the connection. But if it's out of my reach or over my head without support, are they really offering it?

But again, this all ties back to my earlier point... TIME.

OR... I could watch a video, SAVE money, and do it myself ;)
You want someone to work for free.

Did you have any piece of software EVER written that meets your idea ? please link to it.

I bet you wont document and type out everything you learned the hard way and post it here to help other users.

What are you even talking about, man? Also, why are you acting so offended and butthurt? Why are you trying to compare apples to oranges (everything you’ve learned)? We’re talking about a specific product—XenForo.

Where did I say anything about it being free? Are these forums free? No. There are videos on how to code and make add-ons, so why not videos on how to set up and use the software efficiently? It’s the people who are buying and using the software that, in turn, give programmers a reason to create add-ons in the first place. Yet, there are videos on all of that from the devs. So, why not videos on how to use and set up the features of the software, making it even more user-friendly, which, guess what... leads to more customers?

I’m also done replying to you. It was a suggestion, and you, my friend, appear to have a lot of time on your hands and just want to get into a thread war.

Have a good day!

I would rather skim through instructions in 30 seconds, get what I need, and have something concrete to return to in the future, vs. sitting through lengthy videos. That is why I hate how-to vids on YouTube--I don't have hours to sit through numerous videos, many of them poorly produced. Maybe some users have better retention with visual content, but on the other hand I just see it as laziness by those who want to offer information but are too lazy to type it out and have it proofread.

I'd write a manual myself for XF but don't have the time to set aside paying jobs to do something for free.

It has nothing to do with laziness. People just learn differently IMO. However, both options would be better then none.
