Velour [Deleted]

Ok, guys, I don't try to hide that this style is similar to Velvet, but it has nothing from it, literally. I used some of the ideas from that style, but they are pretty basic, like moving private tab to moderator bar, or stitching navigation to the right, you can't copyright these ideas and they are used wisely on the internet. I also created graphics for that style, like node icons, breadcrumb arrows. Other graphics were done with the use of CSS3 gradients, box shadows, which is totally off copyright. If you think I've stolen something than just don't buy it, there are a lot of styles for XenForo.
If there are any Skinbox representatives or the designer itself on this forum they can PM me to discuss this topic.
The fact of the matter is that you didn't just copy 'some ideas' you copied the overall style of the design. The navigation looks exactly the same (including placement), the breadcrumb is in the same place as Velvet, and the layout and sidebar structure are made to look the same, if slightly different.

Changing colors and imagery do not change the overall style enough to make it original. By your argument I could take XenFracture, change it to be a neutral color palette and pass it off as my own. Or someone could take my xenBook style, change the colors to red and say it was completely original to them. Both styles have their own uniqueness to the design which isn't changed enough by replacement of colors and imagery.

Looks nothing like it :p

Well, guess I'll be holding off purchasing this now, til this is settled between you and him.

The only changes were that the tablinks are below the breadcrumb, and that colors and icons were changed.

I see why you say that Forsaken, didn't know about the existence of the IPB version

It sure looks like to inherit the concept but is it stealing? At least like you said with your style. I'm not sure about that...

The overall layout is copied, which is what makes a design. If he had gone with rounded corners, a different style of breadcrumb in the same placement, and had gone out of his way to make the style not look like Velvet, you can say it is inspired. But when you can pick out major elements that look so close to the original it is a copy.

It's a nice style, really nice. But it is obvious a little more than inspiration went into this :whistle:

velvet:
Code:
#footer_utilities a {
color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.7);
}

velour:
Code:
.footer a, .footer a:visited {
color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.7);
}
White alpha, are you serious? I might copied #fff comewhere...

First thing i thought of when i saw the first screenshot was Velvet from Oliver at skinbox(now owned by ehren, who will know about this by the way and he can handle it). Dude you can sit here and say you didnt copy it, but you know you did. Dont try to hide it, the evidence is there. Clearly, look at both screenshots and tell me you didnt. Nothing against u but you should not be charging for this, this should be free..with permission.

You should realize that just because its a different forum software that others havent been around other forum solutions and wont notice what u did. Having my styles ripped in the past i know how it feels. Which is why i got out of it in the end. Cant make money when folks get it for free or cheaper from someone else.

Who cares if it looks like something else? You may as well complain that XenForo has "likes".

Contacting this designer for possible work :) It looks great.
haha really? Who cares if this isnt his own work and hes charging for it? lol you might was well be supporting piracy, which this is.

Skinbox doesn't make XenForo skins. And I never agreed with that general idea of people arguing that X looks similar to Y and thus makes it invalid.

Ford tried to make that argument about cars when they originally had their 1st major competitor. It didn't fly then either.

I think CyberAP did a wonderful design and even if there are some similarities ... I would still support the XenForo release.

Hi CyberAP, Does this support XenPorta? Like Flexile has this "Enable support for 8wayrun addons"

And is there an option to use the default Navbar instead of modified one you have there.. coz i want to place banner ad there..?

No, but it looks pretty decent with XenPorta, at least there are no bugs.
I included support for Online Status Indicator into the style, but other addons should work fine.

Do you have any demo or screenshots? :D coz i'd really want to see first before trying it out myself.

And what about this?

Sorry, but I don't get the idea. I can make a tutorial how to move navigation under logo, but I don't think it can be placed anywhere else.

that would be nice

another question:
in portalview, there are no borders around the blocks. that looks not nice.
is it possible to change?

i mean can we remove the navbar or menu bar that you made to make space for banner ads and stick to the xenforo default menu-bar?

CyberAP.webp

then won't we have 3 layers of Navbar? :D 2 already present and 1 if you are trying to bring it down under logo..
