Hi All,

So far so good 80k users, 1.8 mil posts, vbgallery as well. I am now working on setting up permissions. I have read two documents on this. Currently after import I have 6 vbull user groups that came over. Mainly registered users, admin, mod, subscribers

The users that came over are assigned to their specific group as their main group. I have seen some say all users should be in registered group, then give them additional access by selecting the secondary group. So my moderator would be "registered user" with "super moderator" secondary group. currently this is not the case.

I want to set all this up right so should I use this all in registered then use secondary groups or it's ok to leave it as is? My main concern is my paying subscribers. How would I migrate all of them to registered users and auto set them to subscriber for secondary. Also, when their subscription expires what happens? does their secondary 'subscriber' status un check automatically? Or do I leave their primary group "subscriber" and when their sub expires their primary group changes to "registered user"?

Thanks for any clarification! :)

In general, yes, we advise that all members, including moderators and administrators, are in the Registered user group as the primary and other user groups are added as secondary user groups.

The concept is explained here: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/implementing-permissions-across-multiple-user-groups.358/

Recurring subscriptions won't work once you convert as the payment profile is set up with your old site.
Those members will have to resubscribe once their current subscription ends.

Rather than try to explain the situation with the subscribed members and the user groups, this thread probably covers it all: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/paid-subscriptions-import-confusion.77076/
