Just got this is in my email. For those unfamiliar with vBSEO, it's a separately purchased/licensed product from a 3rd party that significantly enhanced vBulletin's SEO. XenForo has many of the same capabilities (including readable URL's) built-in.

This is perhaps good circumstantial evidence that XenForo's position in the market is strengthening at the expense of vBulletin & its hangers on.

** VBSEO is Suspending Operations :(
------------------------------------------------------------

** Dear vBSEO Customers,
------------------------------------------------------------
It's a sad day for vBSEO.
http://admin-talk.com/threads/dear-vbulletin-forum-community-vbseo-is-suspending-operations.43684/

I'm Ilia Muriente, co-founder of Crawlability Inc. We created vBSEO in 2005 to
enhance the SEO positioning of your forums.

Unfortunately, I was forced out of my role as Vice President in 2009 and have not
been permitted to be involved with the company at any level since. The company has
been fully under the control of my co-founder, Juan Muriente.

Since my departure, the company has been in sharp decline. Recently, our customers
have been abandoned without any support.

vBSEO has not been a priority for the team for several years. In fact, our CEO and
lead developer became involved with Topify Inc in 2012.

I feel that it is important for you all to know the current status and how it may
impact you. I created a short video to talk to you today.

** I invite you to join me for discussion at admin-talk.com

I will answer all of your questions, and hopefully brainstorm with you on how we can
best serve you all if vBSEO closes.

There may be ways for us to continue to serve you if I am able to regain control of
the company - and I'm asking for your support.

And vBSEO did work well -- perhaps too well. I had one forum in particular, loads of subforums but very little real content, with vBSEO fully implemented -- to the best of my recollection (it's been almost 5 years) I had about 600 entries in Google leading to, well, nothing much. :)

I just got the same email from Ilia. Strange that she was forced out some time ago and states in the video she has no access to the server or the records, yet she has all of our contact information in which to send us all a mass mailing. Glad I ditched that software - I don't need the drama that came with VB or VBSEO.

And there is NO mention of it on their website, so they are STILL glad to be TAKING your money for a DEAD product. Bravo!

I only used it in my vB 3.7.x & 3.8.x days -- no drama, support was great the one time I needed it: It was my first experience in dealing with a company with a really global employee distribution, so I was a bit leery of opening up my account to them but it worked out well.

The worst thing I can say about vBSEO is that it gave my ISP a new way to screw me over by disallowing rewrite mode  until I noticed that all of my forums had quit working & complained.

I'd forgotten about Ilia being shut out. By the time I read about it I was already firmly in the XenForo camp with no plans but conversion for my vBulletin/vBSEO sites. I suspect maybe she's still shut out & trying to sir things up. Film at 11! Where's that popcorn smiley?

To be honest this arguement has been going back and fourth for years on nearly every admin board going, he did this, she said that... etc... etc... etc...

Anyway, going to lock this was we don't realy want their arguements spilling over here also.
