Vanity Names [Paid] [Deleted]

I want to have a look at this to see if it works for what I want but unfortunately you have to pay for it, which I am willing to do, but only if it does what I need.

I would like to let all users have a cleaner link/address to their profile. In other words instead of:
http://www.mydomain.com/members/MyUserName.100/
And what I would like to have is:
http://www.mydomain.com/MyUserName

Looking at what has been posted it seems that this could be done if the user creates a Vanity Name, is this correct?

Also, to make all users have a vanity name the same as their username could you make the field in their settings hidden and set the default of the field to their username. This would save their username as their vanity name automatically. For existing users, you could then run an SQL on the table to update the same for all existing users. The only problem left would be to come up with some way that when a new user registers, the Vanity Name is automatically created from their username when they register.

Is all this possible???????

No, it uses the ID number after the username like ibaker.12313

Thanks Mike, he does say in the description:
"For example, here my vanity name is set to liam, so you can go to https://xf-liam.com/liam to view my profile."
and there isn't any user ID in his example which led me to believe that the addon could do what I need

this statement is incorrect. it can be done, just like it says in the description:

just because there is numbers after the name by default (without this plugin) doesn't mean it's impossible to do what you're asking. i'd wait for an official statement from the plugin author.

Thanks EG, hope to hear from him soon as I have a entire new user profile page waiting to go live and it would be great to announce this, if possible, to all users of my site

It forwards to your username.number.. I have a copy of the addon.. but what do I know if you want to insist I'm incorrect.

Possibly what is getting confused here is a user can put the address of https://xf-liam.com/liam in their browser and it takes them to the profile page however the address that is shown in the browser address bar is the old one with the user ID in it...is that correct?

What about non-english characters ? If two members have same nick like "Işıl" and "isil" . They go both to "isil"

The system classes them as the same string, so they couldn't be in use at the same time.

I'll release a fix so non-standard alphabetical characters pass.

I see the price has now gone up.

Liam, can you please answer my questions in my post (#20)...thanks

It should be add random rumber to duplicated name .

No it shouldn't. XF doesn't do this for usernames - it blocks them.

I am also wanting to buy but waiting for an answer to my questions in Post #20

I'll have a look at implementing post 20. It would work, but there isn't a way to force it. I'll have it setup to do that for all of them. However, there is a bug in this version I need to fix.

I'm also back at College/School tomorrow, so my time will be limited again...

So, what can you do about non-english characters on names? We have more duplicated names like Aliş > Alış > Alis > Alıs
