[UW] Forum Comments System [Deleted]

@Ozzy47 his company has an add-on that works great. Comments can go, I dunno, like 6 to 7 layers deep. We have tens of thousands of comments in place with this add-on. Solid, and an absolutely solid and responsive developer.

What's that addon? I can't find it and I need to replace this addon because the author removed it

yes, the problem is I can't migrate the comments from this addon to Ozzy's addon

Not sure if anyone still uses this addon but I've got it working on xenforo 2.3.7(Mostly thanks to 3 days of prompts in chatgpt). This is my most used addon on my forum so I need to update it if I want to update my forum. The current comment addons just aren't the same. Still needs a lot of testing and some bugs to fix as this is the only addon currently installed on my test server but if theres demand I can clean it up more.

Also with the original author being inactive I'm unsure if I'll be allowed to release this?

There's always this one you could use:

Thank you yes but Painbakers version is really different, the comments are treated as a post, in this version comments are completely seperate

In short key differences,
Here comments go into "xf_uw_comment", painbakers go into "xf_post"
In this version comments have 13 user permissions, painbakers has 1
Unlimited nesting, painbaker max of 4
Option to count towards post count, painbakers no option
Allow comments to be linked "/#comment-135", painbakers has no url linking on a comment

My forum has ~250k comments so the slightest change would break it unfortunately

Thank you I'll take a look! I think my main issue would be transfering my current 250k comments into something new which is why I got set on updating this old addon

Agreed.
It's going to die with 2.4
and will likely be in worse trouble with 3.0

rough water ahead.

it's pretty cool you got it working.
