I've found this site quite useful in helping select new color palettes to change things up and thought I'd pass it on:

To keep things easy, I look for palettes there that have colors that shift down or up so it's just a matter of copying the code over into the style property for palettes.

Solari updated Utilizing palette generators for an easy way to change forum colors with a new update entry:

Dark mode colors

For dark mode colors, it's a matter of copying over the new palette codes over from the same palette you choose and using the color picker to darken each one (dragging the color chooser down makes it darker while retaining same color).
