User Settable Content Discovery Addon

If someone ( ) was to create an addon for this, what are the different kind of content that is out there that should be included?

Essentially aiming for a fully user-customizable content stream builder, similar to what platforms like Discourse or Invision Community offer. Supporting all content types (threads, resources, media, posts, etc.), with options for ownership, read status, date filtering, tags, and more. It would also include admin defined streams as well, this way admins can set their own homepage to the stream.

This is no small feat, it would be between 60-100 hours of development (possibly more for someone like me) due to the complexity and the UX layout (which is going to be a pain in the bum). Then there is the actual display of the content, that is going to be a pain to get it right.

This is all hypothetical at this point, just gauging interest and complexity.

This. Our users would be happy if, using the "What's New" button, it was also possible to discover the articles and blogs in Bob's plugins (which would appear in the list of recent threads as threads as well)

Things like the movie thread starter, the TV thread starter etc are thread types, so they should appear by default, but being able to filter different thread types would be appreciated, as would filtering by prefix. Other filters like unanswered, user created, user active in, watched too.

But seriously, is it necessary for a third-party developer to undertake the development of something that should be included in basic Xenforo?

Having also seen the integration of third-party addons such as Cloudflare's and PWA's in Xenforo 2.4, isn't it the case that Xenforo staff either intends the development or helps the development of such a feature?

This is an example of a feature that you risk wasting hours developing and paying to fund, and we risk seeing it in a more “simplified” version in Xenforo core. However given how important it is I think many of us would be interested.
