XF 1.2 User Options

I have disabled User Options "Enable Members List" which says "If enabled, people will be able to browse an alphabetical list of users. This can have performance implications with a large number of users. " So if this is turned off, unchecked, people should not be able to browse the users list right? Is there some other setting I'm missing so guests don't see this list? Guests should not be able to see anything from the members drop down menu right?

That option controls strictly the members list (full). The rest of the members tab is still visible. You would need to edit all associated templates and surround them with conditionals.

Not being a coder or understanding anything beyond cut and paste it escapes me why for privacy reasons this info is at all available to guest. We can stop them from reading posts, we can stop them from having access to categories and threads but we can't stop them from accessing registered members info.
I searched resources on the off chance there was a mod for this but no joy.
Any thoughts outside what you've suggested above?
