User group Images

I'd like to assign certain groups with an image that displays below the username on the left of posts (but before the info bits), with secondary user groups' images showing up under it. I'd also like to have a way to have the memberlist make it clear who is in which groups.

The second one has the placement I would like, and the first one has the CSS location I would prefer to input it in (the usergroup's actual styling rather than into the skins' templates). Any way of adding the two together? Should I perhaps ask someone to develop this as a mod?
