XF 2.3 User Group Demotions?

I'm playing around with user groups and promotions to create a "fee trial".

Basically Registered users can do everything but there's a "Free Trial Over" user group with some permissions set to never that they get added to via promotion if account is x days old and not a member of the Subscribing Member group.

But if someone then purchases a user upgrade they are still in that never group. How do I automatically remove them from free trial over group if they are in the subscribing member group?

So, in the Free Trial Over group promotion tick the box User is NOT a member of any of the selected user groups and select the paid group. They will not meet the criteria and be removed from the restricted group after paying.

I think I did that but I'll try again. It's not instantaneous though which may cause customer support issues.

Hmmm... actually this isn't working right now. Maybe I have it set up wrong. Still tinkering

Demotions are basically promotions that no longer meet the criteria set in the promotion, so it should work.

Make sure it's all in one promotion not two separate ones.

Figured it out. Rebuilt user group promotions all started working well again.
