Use Resource Manager in multiple ways?

Hello,

1. I need to create a download center for my xenForo site. This should be possible with Resource Manager, am I right? Is it possible to add some custom (database) fields to a download (item)?

2. Can I use the Resource Manager for a second purpose on the same site? I want to have something like swap meet. Also with some custom fields of course. Is this possible?

With custom development, yes.

No, only one instance is possible.
It would require custom development or an add-on.

There is an addon I believe that uses one installation of the Resource Manager but allows you to have multiple instances for different purposes. I believe it's made by @Jon W.

Oh... I thought I can use the Resource Manager like a database for different content types. Now I realise it is more like a download manager. Argh!

People have managed to use it for other things other than just downloads.
