XF 2.1 Upload Attachments hangs up for some users

My website is 8 years old, but just today, 2 long time users reported that when attaching a Photo into a Thread that the photo didn't upload.

One person (Regular member) said it uploaded to 26% and then stalled.
A second person (A moderator) said that the upload just stalled at 0%.
A third person (a Regular member like #1) was able to upload a photo just fine.

No Error messages it just stalls for them.

I have no problems uploading photos with File Attachments.

Nothing has changed, I checked the server with A2Hosting or Hosting.com and I have plenty of space on the server. I am using Xenforo V2.1.8.

Any ideas?

have them check their error console (f12) while it happens if they can reproduce it. go there, load the network tab, start a session, and try to upload and see what happens

I see this issue occasionally.

Hopefully the move to tiptap fixes this.

Thanks! I will do that if it continues. Magically they could upload 3 or 4 hours later.

I hope that helps. The users were able to upload just fine about 3 or 4 hours later. So no idea why it started working, but I am glad it is.

On a lot of sites i manage the hosting for, i've noticed that there's someone trying do a slow_loris attack of sorts to consume the server's available TCP/IP ports. On most linux servers, this defaults to 1000 available ports, so it's easily exhausted before CPU is.

Can you SSH into this server? if so when this is happening.. if you count the number of apache processes and it's over 100, you're probably getting hit with this attack intermittently.

The answer would be to install better ddos protection.
