XF 2.2 Unfurl removing redirects?

Is it technically possible for unfurl functionality to remove redirects?
For example, apple.news url's that redirect to the source news article.
The apple.news URL content copies/contains he necessary meta data, but not content.
I'd like the unfurl URL to be replaced with the source URL
