XF 1.5 Two Step Verification

Hello, on our forums tmfaction.com/forums we have a problem when creating an account that can make it extremely frustrating to use. The problem is that the verification email takes forever to send to the user's email if at all. I don't know if this is a problem with xenforo or using my personal email, however if anyone has any idea of how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

In general, emails will be sent by XF immediately and handed off to the server.

If you have root access, you can check the mail log on the server and compare the time between the account being created and the email being generated by XF.
Typically any delays happen outside XF.

Thanks, the other and more important problem is that we want to not make 2 step verification a requirement and I'm wondering if there is a way to disable it.

Two step is enabled in user group permissions. I think by default it is disabled

Pretty sure by default it's disabled also.
BUT, any/all staff (moderators/administrators) really need to have it enabled (mandated).
