Too often I have Gmail or AOL users move my forums messages into their spam folder, this generates abuse reports.
The unsubscribe notices are really feint and I'm sure if it were more obvious how they might unsubscribe from a thread then they might generate less reports. I'd even go as far as having a big blue button next to "View this thread" saying "Unsubscribe From This Forum"
