XF 2.2 Thumbnails Look Like Crap

I realize that 2.2 has made some changes to the display of thumbnails and a member here offered me a tip to hack the display but it's going to take more than the hack to fix this.

There are a number of reason why I don't want to use 150px thumbs.

In 2.11 I have thumbs set to 100px in the attachment setup. I have a test 2.2 running and the thumb display looks horrid with the thumb setting at 100. If I increase the size to 150 as suggested it makes it worse. It also seems like the new system crops the thumbs ????

Is there a template edit I can make that corrects both of these issues?

Did you run the rebuild tool after changing the value as it suggests?

Currently yes I'm running the rebuild to 150 but I'm not happy with this change.

rebuild the raw to 150, and then scale down with css - like max-width: 100px;

the file size will be a bit bigger but it shouldn't get blurry

We used 800px thumbnails (layer-8 problem) for XF2.1. Since XF2.2 the thumbnails are displayed in 150px, regardless of the settings.

Xenforo should consider the size of the thumbnails from the settings, otherwise this setting is useless.
