Thread View CAPTCHA & AI Scraper & Bot Protection - The AI Data Scraping Protection plugin.

This add-on protects your forum by challenging unregistered visitors and suspected bots with a CAPTCHA when they view threads.

It stops data crawlers—including those used for AI training—from scraping your community’s posts.
  • Human-friendly: Legit users only solve once per session.
  • Smart bot detection with DNS and user-agent analysis.
  • Optional logging for analytics and future-proofing.
Keep your forum content safe from both classic spambots and new AI training...

Even if I am a guest from my own computer, I have to pass a captcha to view the content of the thread. It seems like an add-on that can have a very negative impact on SEO if not configured correctly.

Yes, that is correct. Therefore I pointed to this.

On the other hand, much of the industry is moving toward using GPT-based models. This raises an important question: Do you want your board’s data to be used in training such models without any control? Using Cloudflare does not fully address this concern. Additionally, there’s always the issue that by using Cloudflare, you’re sharing your data with a third party.

So the idea is not to disallow bots (which is possible too), its more about control.

Hi @Mbx
The price seems a bit steep, are there any planned sales in the near future? The buy button seems to bring me to a create a ticket page, and I couldn’t find the addon listed on the forum there.

What’s the purchasing process?

Thanks

You can contact me over there or here (I cannot send you a PM here). I add something more detailed then ;)

Will this block you from getting into the google ai featured result? It is easy to block ai from crawling using robots.txt but i think getting into that featured result in Google is important.

You have the control to allow what you want.

Mbx updated Thread View CAPTCHA & AI Scraper & Bot Protection with a new update entry:

Version 1.5.1

1.5.1 fixes:

  • duplicate automatic blacklist rows no longer break confirm/unconfirm actions
  • custom bots now require at least one verification domain
  • empty/invalid DNS candidate domains are skipped more safely
  • admins with manage permission still see the add-on correctly across ACP areas that expect view access
New features:
  • admin permissions for viewing vs managing the add-on
  • manual whitelist and blacklist management
  • a global guest-verification reset...

With the current pricing and no new public releases in 9 months but version goes form 1.1.8 to 1.5.1 - leaves a lot of questions as to why there were no updates released before this when there appears to have been numerous updates occurring. People will be very hesitant to buy.

I am just too lazy to update here (in-between 15 other projects). Software I build for Xenforo is primary meant for my own board - not primarily to sell it ;) Hence. Does not mean there is no progress, while I think that the application is fairly complete at this point. Not sure what else to add currently.

You can do this with Cloudflare.
Yes, true -- for the price there; you just lose every privacy your users got left ;) But in general it does not help that well with bots, more with DDOS, since its not that difficult to overcome the measures that Cloudflare uses.
