[TH] XenBlog [Deleted]

I understand what you are saying. The original purpose of the mod was a blog solely for admins of XF forums (why? I don't know lol). So it retains that core functionality. To change that would probably require a huge overhaul of code, and the new owners are either unable, or unwilling to do this...

Perhaps he should have written that in his thread.. but he didnt write ANYTHING about this mod being specifically only for admins.... and sorry if I have overlooked that, after all it's called
[TH] XenBlog

and I STILL want my money back from the owner of this addon!

  1. This add-on is no longer restricted to just admins
  2. The entire process for creating a blog post is outlined in over 40 screenshots.
  3. We didn't make this add-on originally, When we acquired Borbole's add-ons this came with them. As stated, multiple times we do plan to address many of the issues. You just need to have patience.

This update still doesn't make it different than a fancy thread. Not what a personal "Blog" is all about. Should change the addon name to reserve the title XenBlog for a real blog addon. Also to avoid the confusion of all the earlier discussion posters.

How about "Xen Article Repository" as you can't keep adding to your previous "blog" post. Good for articles and people to comment below them.

@Jake B. One issue, I want to change the phrase "Blog" (the one that appears in the forum's navigation menu). I tried changing phrase: "blog" and "blogs" but nothing happened. Thanks!

I totally agree, but completely seems the people behind this are ignoring this fact, and I simply cant see how you can brand something like this and not fix it... it's like saying "We are selling a smartphone" while all they are selling is a Nokia 3310 (inb4 brick jokes..) They are totally missing out on what a blog should do... I really hope some of the forum members of the various websites using this addon will start complain more so the website administrators can see our point of views..

Hi @Shamatix, I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment though we do completely understand why this isn't living up to your expectations. As @Jake B. confirmed previously this was an inherited add-on, we are slowly working our way through all add-ons to bring them up to the familiar ThemeHouse quality that we're known for. In the meantime we didn't want the existing add-ons to simply disappear then have a barrage of "when will the updated, rebranded version be out" questions, plus we wanted to implement bug fixes etc, ensuring any critical issues are addressed in a timely fashion.

In regard to this not functioning as one would expect a blog to function, I agree completely and love the smartphone versus Nokia 3310 analogy (Snake and week-long battery life FTW!), I'm adding an agenda item for this (XenBlog, not Nokia) to be discussed at our next group meeting and will report back with any updates that I can. For obvious reasons we don't want to provide firm release dates etc so as to avoid disappointment, however, if this can be worked on with a high priority I will do my utmost to ensure that is the case.

Finally, if you would like to submit a ticket with us I would be happy to issue an account credit (this applies to anyone currently unhappy with the [TH] XenBlog add-0n) as a goodwill gesture, due to the inconvenience incurred.

Thanks for this. Submitted :)

We are entirely open to rebuilding this add-on for 2.0. But as it stands, I do not believe this add-on cannot be changed to allow users their own blogs. To me, this makes sense as well, but the original add-on author (who is not us) decided against that. And there is not anything we can do about it, but we will continue to support this add-on as is. When the time is right, we're open to rebuilding it from the ground up.
