[TH] Force Ignore - Allows administrators to force two users to ignore each other.

This add-on adds a section to the Admin Control Panel where administrators can enter the names of two users and force those users to ignore each other.

Additionally, an expiry date can be entered, after which time the users will no longer ignore each other. Before the expiry date, both users will be unable to remove the ignore themselves.

Do the users on force ignore, know that they are being forced to ignore posts by the other person?

Yes, the user shows in their "People You Ignore" page.
If they try to stop ignoring they get a message saying that cannot do that:

Can you set this add-on to prevent these members from responding, quoting, replying, seeing/reading posts from one another in the forum?

I'm developing a Escort Averstising site, the issues are far more complicated given people's complicated offline real world relationships. The issues far exceed anything on average forum site.

Complete Isolation of two members from one another is usually the only answer to many of the fights/disputes and other issues.

This addon won't do that, it just uses the standard XenForo ignore system, with the addition of preventing users removing the ignore.
Users with Force Ignore will still be able to use the "View ignored content" links etc.

To remove those completely will take additional modifications, and there are certain places where ignored users still show up.

I can accept there's no way to 100% block anyone from seeing each other's posts. The site is under construction right now. I will contact you on your site for a customized version more suitable to the requirements of my site.

Just keep in mind that redistributing customized versions of this add-on is against the TOS as it is a premium product. Hiding ignored users that were forced from the ignored user list does make sense, and I think we can add this option in

Just to add, I'm not the author, just someone who has been using the Waindigo version of this for some time.
Any modifications would need to be done by the author (or in the case of template mods yourself).

Thanks Jake. I wonld contact you on the Theme house site to make sure we're honoring the TOS.

I don't expect miracles. If I can stop people from replying, quoting one another's posts. That would be more than sufficient.

After that, if the members are determined to cause issues the staff can't manage, then they shouldn't be members on the site.

That defeats the purpose of the force ignore, and only creates work for the moderators when the user whines about being forced to ignore someone.

Most sites have users who simply cannot ignore others who irritate them. For these users, I'd like to force ignore.

It would also help to have a global force ignore. Make a users posts only visible to himself. When banned, many users try to reregister, and this creates work for the mods. If the person is invisible, it would at least take him time to figure it out.

What are you doing for people who have got this from Waindigo?

Also for people asking about it hiding all content, this addon combined with @wmtech's user blocking system makes a complete system and blocks the affected users from seeing content even when it is quoted by another user. All they see is the other user's response but not what they are responding too.

I've used it in a couple instances with people who simply won't stay out of each other's way, or someone who is trolling another user but otherwise is okay with respect to other users. Actually just applied it in the latter case to someone today.

Note that if you are not aware you can set a force ignore to expire on a certain date if you simply feel like the users need a cooling off period. In my experience though users who argue enough to apply the force ignore never resolve their problems so I just default it to forever which is done by not inputting any dates into the fields when applying it.

My biggest problem is that I use it so infrequently (4 times in the last 18 months) that I always forget where it is and have to go hunting for it
