That's a bit sad and disappointing. I had this product for a year, and haven't seen any updates or any features implemented...

There's more than one person want this

But we do not claim to add every feature everyone wants, thats impossible. Everything we claim it does on the resouce listing is what we support, so it is updated and is supported. Just because we cannot build a feature you want isnt fair. If you want it, pay for it or use a different system that has it. Its unfair to claim this isnt updated when for 99% of everyone who uses this it works perfectly well.

We haven't seen a huge demand for the project, so we haven't invested into it any extra time. If that demand picks up or if someone wants to offer a clear list of the MOST important shortcomings, we can perhaps do a sprint.

@mattrogowski can I task you with sending me this list if people share that? Perhaps we can devote a few days for any high value things people really want. If they make sense to a lot of people.

And anyone else is welcome to also. I need list sorted so I can determine what all it needs. And to be clear this doesnt mean we will, but if 2-3 people are saying this has some shortcomings definitely can see a reason to invest time in a few high value features.

I did requested for this feature about half year ago.

I’m really happy with this addon, however, there is automatic featuring threads, and it doesn’t make sense that the x automated thread will be featured in slider, grid and content. I would like to be able to choose where the automatic threads to be featured. Example if a thread received x reactions, I would like that one to be automatically featured on slider with its photo, without me going to pick the photo.

Obviously, but this seems to imply if more than one person wants it then you do attempt to support that:

Our policy is if only one person wants it, we ask them to fund it on their own. If multiple people want it, we will attempt to support it.

Thanks. I don't have this addon, so it's difficult to imagine exactly what the issues are for you, but I was curious. I do see they did some kind of feature addition back in January that they still haven't released: "Allow all of the widgets related to Filters to be supported across every page." And in Feb. they added "Ability to disable filters completely in feature page." But, yeah, I didn't see anything that would allow more administrative control over what is displayed. Anyway, I'm sure Mike will pop in at some point to elaborate.

I am thinking of ticketing a bug report that the "Feature" button has no way to be localized.
I checked both the language file and all templates (incl. template modifications).
Is this "Feature" hardcoded in JavaScript or PHP?

I don't want to get in on some kind of concerted TH attack here, but this is one of the reasons I would never have likely purchased this addon, especially for the price, because I know from past experience with other TH addon's that I usually have a problem with their lack of administrative display options. They tend to like to throw everything on some certain page created by the addon, and then there's some filters. And then there's not usually much to expect after that, and that's as much as I'll say on the subject. I get that a dev would want to put only so much time and expense into an addon that isn't making them much money, but then sometimes you have to wonder if the addon wouldn't make more money if there was more development on it that generated more positive feedback. I suppose, though, they would know better than us.

Right, different strokes for different folks. For some people it will do all they need. I suspect my last comment might have come off a bit more negative than I intended, because I do understand that XF addons probably aren't exactly a gold mine for them. The lesson I've learned when it comes to them, based on my own experience, is know what you're buying when you buy it and don't expect anything more - and don't be too surprised if it's no longer supported a year or so down the road. That's the gist of it.

I will have to work out on my forum, I have around 120 addons, to fit my niche needs, a bit sad that XF is lack of so many features.

So @Mike Creuzer quite rightly suggested if only one person wants it, they should fund it. However my request got two likes so at least three people want it (ie multiple people)

Thanks everyone for your input with this one, I need go through and read some more history of the thread and make sure I haven't missed anything, and there's a few other internal tasks we have for this addon too, but I'll see what I can do to move this forward.
