Template Save Time

Whenever I save a template modification on my root template (which has 8 children below it), it can take almost 15 seconds to save. I understand a lot is going on as it rebuilds the cache, but 15 seconds seems like a bit much and it makes testing changes a pain.

Is this a normal save time when propagating the changes across so many children styles?

Yes, perfectly normal.

The more styles you have, the more intensive the operation.

Sounds good. I suppose I can make test changes on one of the children, then push them up to the root when I'm done.

I was going to suggest that.

Or if you have a local installation, just have one style.
The benefits of having a local installation are it is a lot quicker (generally) and you're also not disrupting your live site.

Kier did say he was going to look at ways of optimising the process.
