Would it be possible to use highlight_string() within the templates?

Bump.. new question related to title. Basically looking to have syntax highlighting within a block of code in a template.

In the screenshot above I use a customised copy of this add-on. It uses CodeMirror for syntax highlighting and advanced editor functionality. Not sure if you need something that full blown for what you're doing though.
