TaigaChat - AJAX shoutbox

This chat box really rocks! I have a suggestion for it: to be like that chat room thing of Cometchat. What I mean is that to be able to have a tab, and can stay opened in all pages. That sure would look nice!

This has probably been requested, but can you add the ability for threads to be posted in the shout box when someone posts in a thread, or creates one? Sort of like GCBOS does for vBulletin. I really need this addition, as at the moment everyone in the chat is clueless as to what people are posting on the forums.

Example

Oh, and I'd also like to request a notice above the shout box for members to read.

I hate sites that have stuff like that, so I won't be adding that

Not happening - it's a shoutbox not a ticker

Just edit the necessary dark_taigachat_* template

It's a permission to edit/delete messages. With the permission you will find the arrow in front of the timestamp / message.

Asked and answered before I think, but can't remember a search term that'll find it:
What is the full breadcrumb path to the specific admin page where I can change the time the post transcript to thread archiver runs?

I need to set mine to run at 00:00:00:00 GMT (and would like to know how, so I have the option to change that time if need be).

Thanks!

Thanks very much B... will that also autopost the chatbox contents to the thread we've specified, or is that a separate breadcrumbs path?

If a separate one, I'd appreciate that one too so I can make SURE the transcript gets posted before it gets scrubbed from the chatbox.

We got burned badly on that before, lost about 5 hours of training work when it scrubbed the box but didn't write the transcript to the thread.

As a primarily holographic thinker I sure wish all of the settings for a given plug in were accessible from a single screen, rather than having to memorize or keep track of a different breadcrumb path entirely for each kind of edit or parameter setting of a given plug in or function.

As a non-coder, I never would've thought of CRON entries...
I guess maybe XF's POV is that if you're not a coder you don't belong in the ACP anyway!

Just checked there and yep that's where the routine runs - so again thanks for that.

Meanwhile the settings to verify whether autopost to a thread is enabled and the parameters for which thread to post to are not on that screen AND there is no clue given on that page where to find the autopost to thread settings. IMHO there should be a LINK to it on the TaigaChat Daily Clean Up screen.

All elements of a plugin should have some means of link access indicated from the other pages dealing with that plugin. We shouldn't have to go digging through a manual or bugging Brogan about it. ;)

Also on the Cron entry page, it shows Run at Hours but no indication of what TIME ZONE is being referred to. Again, that missing piece resulted in a loss of data because I guessed wrong before.

So another question for this thread, that imho should be answered on the Daily Settings Page: What Time Zone is ASSUMED (but nowhere on the page indicated)?

If it's GMT then a simple heading just above "Run on time of day"* that says (Time in GMT/UTC).

I sure hope this gets remedied in future versions as I would imagine it would remove some load from the Q & A forums re: how to find all of these variables...

Please...

*[edited at 19:41 Pacific Daylight Time - replaced "Run on type of day" with "Run on time of day"]

This is a XenForo issue

The cron system is an internal part of XenForo, so even if there were good reason for a link back to the other options (most people will not need to edit the post time) it wouldn't easily be possible.

Not sure quite what you mean... the daily cleanup cron consists of code which does the archival to thread, followed by truncating the table down to 1000 rows. Both processes are governed by the same cron settings you have edited.

As a primarily holographic thinker I sure wish all of the settings for a given plug in were accessible from a single screen, rather than having to memorize or keep track of a different breadcrumb path entirely for each kind of edit or parameter setting of a given plug in or function.

Will add a link from the options page to the cron edit page at some point

Is the chat content logged? (I'm moving to XF from IPB 3 - which has a chatroom that logs all chat messages for however long you specify in the settings)

I know this is a longshot, but anyway to have a sound when a message is posted, or someone enters/exits chat?
