Q&A style threads have it.

should have a comment and text nest per the above documentation, no?

google shows my pages as still not valid.

Though FWIW the second thread you linked has the articleBody set (text equivalent for articles), but it's only present on the first page which is fine by Google's guidelines. The console error appears for original posts or comments which only have an image, video, or other embedded content.
