I didn't understand the frame of reference until I (ironically) Googled "Steve Yegges" - he's a Google engineer, which makes it all the more interesting.

A very interesting read.

It also explains why Facebook grew stronger while similar products like MySpace slowly died off. It also gives me some things to think about as far as ideas such as F/OSS are concerned, as well.
