Spotting the spammers who get through registration

I've recently had a few spammers getting through, and looking in to the accounts I'm not sure how, or even if, we can combat the method they use.

When an account gets created it's IP is tracked to (for example) the US, and doesn't trigger enough to force it in to manual validation at that time. A few days later a spam post is created by that account, and I check the IP again and it's been accessed from a (for example) Chinese IP address.

I get a reasonable amount of accounts created in Venezuela at the moment, that are then accessed by a different country IP address.

Is there any plugin, or way of determining if accounts are being accessed by different country IP ranges in a period of time. Guessing they are probably using a proxy or VPN or the likes to get past the initial spam registration blocks.

Don't really like the idea of blocking out whole countries IP ranges, but from my investigations I'll have considerably less aggro if I block China, India & Venezuela.

The odd spam post doesn't usually bother me, but the last one included a hardcore porn image in it.

Wow, that must have been rough. IP numbers from China really raise my suspicion as well.

I suspect that there isn't such an addon at this point. It might be a real hassle for anyone who travels internationally as well, such as international students on vacation or going home after break. If travelers like that aren't in your audience, that could be great, though.
