Speed Up my Forum

Once loaded my site flies...

However the initial load take awhile for the first page.



Anything I can do to speed this up? I am using UI.X for my theme. There has to be something I can do to bring down that 1.6 seconds before you see anything on my site.

Change UI.X first. I ran it before too and changed it to a custom theme from @Russ .

That was a big improvement.

Also use Cloudflare and Redis for caching.

Should have mentioned using NGINX.

Have REDIS already caching.

Try running same speed test with xenforo default style and all add-ons disabled get yourself a baseline reading. Find out if it's bloat slowing you down or is it the hosting setup.

Additionally, I recommend finding ways to curb unwanted bot traffic. One of the biggest ways I helped my speed was to block overly aggressive bots from China and other countries that were appearing way too often in my access logs.

10k guests vs 39 members. You have an abusive bot problem.


You need to severely rate limit/filter/block the bad-bot/scraper traffic to your discussion board. Those drones are more or less hammering your server.

Once you get that issue mostly resolved, go the route of Max Taxable's feedback. Get a baseline, figure out what is causing lag-time.

Yup, a good robots.txt to block the bots that respect it. You can block AI bots via Cloudflare, and we ended up having to block a lot of countries. Vietnam, Singapore, China, Russia, etc... we were getting hammered from bots on those sites that didn't respect any of the above.
