Spam?

We are a large forum and recently just started getting a decent amount of spam messages/members that just joined out of nowhere - we have a lot of spam type of blockers up but since upgrading to 2.1 and there is no CleanTalk update yet what is everyone doing to prevent spam sign ups? We have banned certain countries long ago, using honey pot as well and the google spam register picture chooser too.
