Spam bots

Only installed Xenforo tonight, but already (with recaptcha enabled) we've had about 6 people sign up and start their usual spam.

Moved from vb4 over to XF and never had this much spam in such a short space of time.

Any ideas on putting an end to this?

You may want to look into this addon here. http://xenforo.com/community/resources/foolbothoneypot-bot-killer-spam-combat.1085/ It's awesome to stop bots. If you get the TAC addon (there is a free version) it will stop all sorts of spam from bots to actual people.

I've found they are not new members, but instead old members who signed up on vbulletin and hadn't posted. Transferred everything over and now they are suddenly posting.

Use the spam feature in Xenforo to ban and identify sister ID's with the same IP. You likely find the spam posts ID's are related.

So far, none have the same IP

There's not much you can do about dormant spam accounts other than ban them when they surface.

You can consider moderating the first x posts.

I thought that would be the case. They seem to be slowing down a bit now, so I hope there won't be many more
