Someone asked on our Forums about Email's being visible to outsiders

There isn't anyway for the emails of Forum members to be visible to anyone other than themselves is there. We have a member who's concerned they could show up in google search.

Is that possible?

They won't be in Google but...

Emails bounce off of 10-30 different servers while being delivered and anyone can read them in route. That's one of the reasons that many of us are going to HTTPS which encrypts this content. Emails over HTTP are as secure as a postcard. (for the <20 crowd, a postcard has no enclosing envelope to hide the content)

Actually, I do know what a postcard is

It would only show in Google if the email address has been posted in a thread which is then indexed, or is available on the user profile (which they aren't by default).
