XF 2.2 Some image thumbnails (via an external host only) are not displayed

Hello everybody, I have had a strange problem for several weeks, almost always for images posted on my forum with an external host (Imagebam, Imgbox, etc.), several images are not displayed and we see the url link instead.

However, I have no problem with the attached images (fortunately!), it is only with the bb-code of the images. I did tests with other forums, all the images were displayed well, I had no problems, only on my forum I have this problem which is almost recurrent with each post containing images.
I am wondering where this can come from and I really need your help please because it is very annoying especially since my forum is mainly based on sharing photos. I use Mozilla Firefox, I tried with other browsers and it's the same, I know it's not from the browser. Please, where do you think this might come from? Could it come from a bad setting of my host? :unsure:

I also show you my server settings, I have the correct Php version so it doesn't come from there. I don't know...

Sorry for the delay, I was a little busy. No, luckily it's not just Imagebam that allows adult content, it's also Imgbox, Imagetwist and other hosts. I wouldn't use imgur.com as they only allow "family" content just like imgbb, however the last site is very useful for gifs. But casimages also does the job very well for gifs.
I don't really know what self-hosting is. :rolleyes: I've never heard of it other than the attachments. I'll have to find out more about this. Thank you Chromaniac for all these suggestions.

Otherwise for my problem, I understood! In fact it's very stupid, it is the words which I set up in the option "Censoring" which modified certain bb-codes. I wanted to fight against the sms language in French without thinking...

I have seen this issue randomly. Too few times to be able to point a fix at the moment. One thing you can try is to disable image proxy if you have it enabled. That should in most cases fix this problem. However, your screenshot show links to http based links to images so it would become a problem if you are running SSL on your domain. XF2.2 does have an option where proxy is only used for HTTP links. So that might help. But not always.

One crappy workaround would be to do a find and replace of all http links to https links on a regular basis for domains which does support https. Imagebam does iirc (it is banned on most ISPs here in India).

Also of course do check if the image links here are indeed enclosed in IMG tag.

Thank you very much Chromaniac for your help. :) I disabled the image proxy and it didn't change anything at all.

Regarding images that are not displayed, it's the same in https (for example with Imgbox), it's the same.
For the links of the tags, I was not mistaken and besides these work perfectly on other forums, not a single image which does not appear whereas on my forum I have at least one which is not displayed, see more, 2, 3, 4 ...

It's really mysterious to me. Thank you again Chromaniac.

ok. it does seem like the bulk code that imagebam provided missed the img tags for the images that are missing.
if you go through the code, you would notice that the images that only have links do not really have img tag for the image itself.

However there are img tags as you can see below on the screenshot and I put the first images of the post in the spoiler, you will see that it displays well

Ah ... Sorry, I have difficulties to understand. Is there something to do with Xenforo's html code? 🤔 In any case, there is a problem with the img tags.

What I was saying was that...

You post BBCODE here in XenForo editor.
That BBCODE is converted in HTML by XenForo when that post is viewed.
What I actually see in browser is HTML produced by XenForo.
And that html code on your forum's posts didn't show me image code from Imagebam.
This means that when Imagebam generated the forum (bbcode) code for images, it seems to have missed the image tag for some of the images. This is the only reason I can think of.

What I wanted you to post was the entire post content of the missing image post (from editor) here so that I can see if the post content has image code for the missing image. I do not have access to the post's actual content posted by the user. I only get to see the HTML generated by XenForo.

I checked this post: https://forum-collants.fr/threads/laetitia-casta.839/post-7198. So just edit this post, copy the content and post here in code box.

I am now out of ideas. I cannot access the forum content right now so it's hard to check again if the image code is indeed missing from the html code generated by XenForo... But the code I posted above definitely is missing the image code.

Your fresh code points to https://thumbs2.imagebam.com/34/ac/68/b054961268622974.jpg which works. So, not sure what happened here. Was the post content changed since yesterday?

Sorry I made a mistake. I took the imagebam bb-code that I put in my post, I didn't take it in my post because I couldn't. The bb-code turned into images so not easy to copy. There I think it should be good, I had a copy paste of my post.

The code provided by Imagebam is the one that is important. And that code seems to be ok. Image should appear.

You can get the current code of the post with missing image by clicking the [ ] button in the editor.

This would give you the bbcode that seems to have problems with the missing image.

In any case, Imagebam seems to have updated the links to images. I am not sure why that could have happened and why the image links are different now.

The code in the post above is incorrectly formatted - several of the entries are missing IMG tags.

Indeed Brogan, we see that the img tags are missing for 4 photos.

one major strange thing happening is that all https links from original code are being turned into http links. that should not be happening! try disabling your addons and see if it still happens.

something is definitely messing around with the content being posted and what is being saved.
