XF 2.3 So what ways exist to be notified when someone you follow posts?

This question has been asked a number of times in the past, it seems, but I don't see any resolution. However, because of the dates of those posts.. maybe I've missed something.

Numerous folks follow spokesmen for teams on a sports site I help with and they'd like to get notified when those people post.

There's an addon that emails you when something goes for manual approval - I think it can be set for a certain thread as well - so maybe set for a certain member too. I just use it to let me know when something is in the manual approval queue. By setting the email as VIP I set a ping for it so every time I get an email related to that, my phone pings. I noticed it pings me when a certain thread is replied to as well (presumably the same forum email address). I'm sure there'd be a way to set up when a certain member posts.
