XF 2.1 So how does the bounce feature exactly work?

Just curious how it exactly works. I think everything is set up properly as I noticed the last logins by the forums to the the IMAP configured bounce settings (the forum mail & bounce mail are separated) but I have not the faintest clue how the bounce exactly works.

I noticed some emails are send back to the main email regarding emails not being able to be delivered, and while the forums has properly access to the bounce email, it doesn't appear to be doing anything. Not even in the bounce logs which is empty. Can someone enlighten me?
