So anyone excited by Pirates 4 with one Mr Depp opening this week?

Anyway, here is the trailer. :)

And what's wrong with Peter Pan? It has Captain Hook in it.

Captain Hook I had no problem with, it was Robin Williams playing Peter Pan. Robin Williams starred in a lot of great movies, but Peter Pan was not one of them. He must have owed someone a lot to take the part, :p

I'm not all that concerned that Bloom and Knightly aren't in the movie; it's their characters I'll miss.

Now if the writers manage to come up with interesting new characters, I may change my tune.

I think they should do another story with a lot more of Keith Richards, really. :D

EDIT: Wait, is he in this one? I hadn't heard that. Okay, now we're excited!

Keith Richards gets a cameo only, nice injection into the plot however.

As expected two hours of mindless entertainment that is maybe a tad long. The 3D was good, and the one liners were coming thick and fast. I got exactly what I was expecting so had a good time, along with the rest of our group. IN our cinema the movie got a round of applause, which isn't normal for movies downunder.

Good wholesome family fare, that's a touch naughty, but which rollocks along!

A cameo only? Okay, make that "mildly excited." :p

Thanks for the quick review. Mindless entertainment is good, especially when work is getting hairy. Something with a bit of outrageous action and a few good laughs is just the thing after a long day's work on a difficult translation.

And it got applause in Oz? That does sound promising!

wow, when I first glanced that this...I totally read that wrong

tee hee hee

I didn't end up going to see it on Thursday night, wasn't feeling well, and so Jeff went with our son, his best mate, and his best mate's Dad (they lost their wife/Mother respectively a few months ago - so a night out was probably a good thing to do)

Will catch the 4th pirates movie on DVD eventually :)

The excitement lasted until the movie started, then it was a big disappointment. Depp's genius performance was the only reason I didn't ask for my money back. He took a terrible movie and elevated it to only being bad.

Characters were undeveloped (Syrena), underdeveloped (Phillip) or extraneous and unnecessary to the plot (the Spanish). The plot was in and of itself, a monotinous drudgery.

To me, the highlight was the question answered from At World's End, "Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?"

As it turns out... both.
