Signatures

Is there any way to make it so signatures display more space between the post content and the sig area? I've tried everything, including making the sig area a different color and messing with the CSS. I can't get it to look right - it looks cluttered and disorganized. Here's what I'm looking at:

I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to fix this, and I haven't located any modifications that can fix this either. I did find one thread here on the forum, answered by Brogan, but it just told the person to go into Style Properties/Signatures (where I've been already for an hour now).
