XF 2.2 Side-nav for Forum List and What's New on opposite sides. Why?

Is there a reason?

On the main Forum List page, the side-nav is on the right side.

On the "What's New" page, the side-nav is on the left.

Follow-up question: Is there a setting that can change where the side-nav appears?

Nope. Default. "Factory" XenForo. It's been this way since I first installed it.

There is no side nav in the first image.

Those are widgets in the sidebar.

The widget locations for both pages are in the "side-nav." The side-navs are on opposite sides for those pages.

Whatever we want to call that side column... I think it would be better if it was consistent page to page. It never has been since the day I installed.

Navigation menus are always in left, widgets can be in right and left.

So, from what I can tell...

There is no widget "sidebar" (right) option for the What's New page.

And there's no widget "sidenav" (left) option for the Forums List page.

In other words... the side column (nav / bar) are on opposite sides for each of those pages. It does not appear I can line everything up (in the side column) on the same side for both pages.

Am I assessing this correctly?

Have you looked at the admin cp page for widgets? admin.php?widgets/

There you can configure each widget's position.

But keep in mind, that a real sidenav (like the one on https://xenforo.com/community/account/ on the left side) is not a widget and not easily be removed or moved to another place.

Yes. See above, where I said:
