Does removing the "share this page" block speed up forum home page loading?

I'd almost say definitely... they're just awful. Not XenForo's fault though, it's the way the buttons were designed by the social media networks.

I use ghostery to replace share buttons with simple images which load the real buttons when clicked, but that's client/browser side. I think @digitalpoint did something similar on the server-side for his community.

Either uncheck the options for the various services in the ACP, or comment it out of the sidebar in the forum_list template.

Go to Options -> Search Engine Optimization (SEO), towards the bottom

Indeed... The 3 normal buttons were taking 20 HTTP requests, 116KB bandwidth and slowed page renders by 1.6 seconds per page view.

This is ultimately what we switched to (3 buttons requiring 1 *total* HTTP request): https://tools.digitalpoint.com/social-buttons

I turned those things off and didn't notice any difference in initial page load.
