XF 2.1 Setting node icon colors for read/unread

Hi,

I am setting up my second Xenforo forum and cannot remember how to change the node icon colors. I'm using the MD icons, and here's what I've tried:

Style properties > Node/forum list
*Setting icon colors here has no effect

I changed the colors on my first forum, but it's been so long I can't remember how I did it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think I figured it out... I had my default theme set to the parent rather than the child, which was what I was editing. Now it works. D'oh!

Actually it still isn't working. I'm bummed out, I can't get the colors to change... any tips? I set the colors and nothing happens.

Ok I think I figured it out for real this time... I had my 'read' icons set to a material design icon and when I removed that, the colors showed up properly Yay.
