Is it possible to pre-set users option defaults to "watch this thread" and "receive email notifications" checked?

I asked for already registered current users, not for new registration. But thanks for trying to help.

I don't know if the code is still valid, but be carefull with this, especially if you have European customers.
If users don't set the email part themselves, those emails can be seen as spam.

You wouldn't expect it, but I even had morons reporting their birthday messages from the forum as spam which brought the complete hosting server on the Microsoft dynamic greylist twice and some spam notices from the biggest ISP in our country. For a birthday gratulation!! How low can one go? Instead of just replying to it that they don't want any mail anymore. Just as easy.

So you might want to consider this before activating the "e-mail notifications" part for users.
