Server sluggish, looking for XF expert to optimize

I am on a dedicated server, and within the last 6-7 months it has started to lag and stall

My Host person who doubles as tech support, just can’t get it fixed.
He says all of the indicators he is looking at say the server is running perfect.

I'm looking for someone to help solve this problem.
I also need to have some idea what it will cost.

My website does have NSFW and political content if that is a problem for you.

Bot swarm?

I've been fighting a running battle with bots for some time now across several of my sites - using Cloudflare to mitigate.

I've even built a harness for Claude to diagnose and update my firewall rules for me - it's quite time consuming to do it myself, but Claude can track patterns far more easily than I can.

I had bot swarms, particularly Meta's AI bot, that absolutely hammered my VPS. Before I figured it out, I actually did an expensive upgrade and the "guest traffic" just increased with the new resources. Using blocking rules in htaccess (link) helped a lot. There are a lot of other solutions in this thread as people have dealt with this.
