Serious ? to UK folks.

did I write population?
You said many Brits were leaving, I provided actual numbers to show the population has risen significantly (and you can verify my numbers).

If the taxes were that bad, one would assume a visible drop in population, or at least not an increase of more than 10% in 16 years.

I’ve only lived here in the UK for more than 40 years, mind, I might be mistaken about this country yet.

I think you'll also find fewer British people leave post Brexit. I would have probably left had it not been for Brexit, but it would have been to do with the weather rather than taxes - it would not have affected my UK income.

So why do UK citizens put up with so many horrible stabbings of children? I mean come on. The answer is UK citizens don’t and have no control over citizens nutjobs and little control over rouge bad entities - same in US. Same tragedy different weapon no?
Not exactly. While it's true knife crime is on the increase, especially in the capital city, much of the bad press in that area came from the assertion that London hospitals are 'as bad as a military war zone hospital' according to Donald Trump who misquoted Martin Griffiths, a London trauma surgeon. Trump was attempting to draw a parallel between gun crime in the U.S. and knife crime in London while addressing the NRA but in reality the statistics are miles apart.

Knife crime is a problem in the UK and on the increase but statistically it's still very low when compared to the majority of countries in the world. It's also worth noting that rightly or wrongly we have a tendency to de-escalate the harm done by this type of crime by passing laws to prohibit ownership or the carrying of such weapons.

Why do Brits allow this and just stand there and get arrested by people with no weapons?
Same reason Americans allow corporations to screw them over and then do absolutely nothing about it. In fact, they elect people who will only ensure that it keeps happening.

Answer that one and you'll have your answer to your question.

You'll have noticed that anyone who goes against the present government's agenda is labelled 'Far Right'
Sounds like America, where anyone who questions the incoming president is a far-left radical extremist. Sounds like political rhetoric is quite universal.

It’s all about perspective. You can read two different news outlets and think you’re reading about two entirely different countries, one of which is a fading power, the other an utter hellhole that barely qualifies as a third world nation, let alone one of the G7.
I guarantee you the OP is just paraphrasing stuff they heard from their propaganda source of choice. They most likely have never actually been to the places they're being told is horrible. I don't blame them, I'm guilty of the same thing. We all are.

Where I live, it's supposedly an utter hellhole that is completely lawless 24/7. It's true if that is what you already believe. I've been to many places that were supposedly "awful" to the point that "you'll be killed just walking down the street," and absolutely nothing happened. It was perfectly fine. Because it turns out what I was told was just rhetoric that didn't come close to reflecting reality.

People have this weird tendency to believe that if something isn't 100% perfect, it must be 100% evil. Is the UK perfect? No. But neither is any other country on the planet. Does that mean all the horrible stories I hear are true? No, not at all.

I would again point out that nearly all "news" is controlled by a handful of giant globalized corporations. That have their own agendas to push.

I wonder how bad it has to get for the bottom end of society before they turn. People will only put up with so much for so long, and at some point they will turn.
Things never happen until people are personally impacted. You see that all over the world. That's the one "good" thing about extremism, it always ends up failing because it goes too far. It's never a question of if, it's a question of when it goes too far.

Indeed, and we never seem to collectively question what those agendas are, or why they’re collectively harmful.

according to Donald Trump
It's very simple: anything this man says should be assumed to be a lie. It is. The sooner this piece of **** dies*, the better off the world will be. I don't wish death on anyone, but I will certainly read certain obituaries with great pleasure.

*To be fair, virtually everyone in politics is a piece of ****. He's just a particularly ****ty one.

Really, I see it as fairly simple. The agenda is "this guy over here is the problem" and not "hey maybe the giant corporation above me that controls everything is the problem." And it's an incredibly successful agenda.

It is classic goalpost moving. Instead of admitting they are wrong, they went for the "no true Scotsman" fallacy (or in this case, true Brits, I guess). If they have a source supporting their claim, they are welcome to share it.

It's the same thing in America. If tax rates were the end all be all, then every single person in America would live in states like Texas or Florida that don't have state income tax. But this doesn't happen. There are many states with higher costs of living that still have millions of people. Which clearly demonstrates that there is more to life than just tax rates. There are 50 states in America, and the least populated one has 750k. So that tells me that every state appeals to at least that many people for some reason. Could be lower cost of living. Could be access to national parks. Could be a particular political or cultural climate.

I see plenty of people still living in the UK. If it's as bad as I'm told it is, why hasn't everyone left?

There is a wonderful meme image that sums this up. I think I saw it on Reddit, but I don’t know who made it, so can’t credit them. The figure in the middle is meant to be Rupert Murdoch, media and news tycoon, owing multiple major UK newspapers.

He also owns Sky News in Australia and Fox News in America. He's another person I have on my "pleasurable obituary" list.

I've seen Sky News. It's the same loud, screaming, rhetoric-driven ******** that is Fox News in America. Fox News has completely ruined many members of my family. People who used to be smart and fairly objective, they've now been completely brainwashed and reduced to just screaming talking points all day. Everything they say is just whatever they hear on Fox News that day. It's very sad. They won't even travel anymore because they are so afraid that "those people" are going to kill them the moment they leave the house.

My own family is much in the same boat. No surprises that I don’t speak to them much any more.
