XF 2.2 Sending Mass Emails from XenForo

I need some clarification regarding sending mass emails to users from XenForo. It appears that XenForo doesn't send emails from a dedicated email address by default. Do I need to set up a custom domain email for this? Thanks!

It should automatically fill out the field with your default send address and the emails will be sent by what ever email sending transport system you use. You can change From Email: to anything - it only changes the from name. I just sent an email from joshmo@joshmo.com

No but it’s recommended to avoid getting black listed for spam. Also recommended to use a SMTP sending service.

I’m not sure what you mean by directly from xenForo, or have I missed something and they have email sending service with Cliud accounts?

If not then you would be sending from your domain via php and could easily get blacklisted I believe. Especially if it is a shared hosting.

I use postmark. A lot of people use Amazon SES which is free (more or less)

I was never able to configure it even though Amazon authorized me.

So as I understood, I choose SMTP from here and configure it like that

Amazon give you the hostname (in my case http://email-smtp.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/ plus username and password

I then used port 587 TLS on. Seemed to work well.

the guy i purchased my license from and that hosts it is setting it up for me.
took him about 20 minutes and right now we are in the sandbox still.
he also set up another service that gives me 5 free emails to use with the domain.

sorry he doesn't deal with supporting anything from this site any longer.
he has told me to not relay solutions he does for me over here because of that.
after comments from certain people here i will not say why but that is his choice.
but apparently it is not that hard to do for someone that is familiar with it.
